The S&P 500 index ended Q1 2025 with a market cap of $49.41 trillion, a net decrease of $2.45 trillion (or 4.7%) from the $51.86 trillion recorded at the end of Q4 2024. Much of that decline was concentrated in the top 10 stocks that make up the market cap-weighted index, which collectively lost $2.78 trillion of their market capitalizations.
