Bessent, Warsh, Hassett are the leading contenders to get Fed chair job, CNBC survey finds

  • The CNBC Fed Survey found the leading contenders to succeed Jerome Powell as Fed Chair are Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh and Kevin Hassett, the National Economic Council director. The probability of a recession in the next year has fallen to 31% from 38% in June and 53% in May after the president announced sharply higher "reciprocal" tariffs.
