Trump to Impose Drug, Chip Tariffs, Announces Indonesia Trade Deal

  • US President Donald Trump indicated he's likely to implement tariffs on pharmaceuticals by the end of the month and suggested semiconductor tariffs could follow, potentially coinciding with broader "reciprocal" rates set for Aug. 1. Trump also said he reached a deal with Indonesia, reducing its tariff rate to 19% and adding that the Southeast Asian country agreed to erase all duties on US imports and buy more than $19 billion of American products including 50 Boeing jets.
