Argo High Employs 2 In Same Top Post

  • SUMMIT, IL – Argo Community High School now has two buildings and grounds directors. Gary Nothnagel is listed on the school's website as holding the position, while Mark Perecich has the same title, with the word "interim" attached. In response to a Patch inquiry Wednesday, Argo's acting superintendent, Brandon Cotter, said Nothnagel is retiring at the end of next school year. "In preparation for this transition, we have hired an Interim Director (perhaps the term successor would be more appropriate) who will work closely with the current Director throughout the year," Cotter said in an email. "This collaborative approach will allow the Interim Director to gain a comprehensive understanding of the Argo campus, its systems, and the unique operational needs of our school." He continued, "This intentional period of overlap ensures a smooth transfer of knowledge, continuity in facilities management, and the preservation of critical institutional expertise." According to Nothnagel's LinkedIn page, he has been the building and grounds director since 2020. Before that, he was the maintenance supervisor for seven years. The district's website lists Nothnagel's salary at $142,000. Starting this week, Argo has two human resources administrators making six figures, one of whom will be part time and allowed to work remotely. Cotter is the acting superintendent while William Toulios is on administrative leave pending an investigation into his credit card spending. Toulios' credit card spending has been under scrutiny since last year. One mysterious expense was labeled "sextpanthe."
